Waterloo 2017 - Final Day

Co-op Funeralcare Waterloo Champion 2017 is......

It’s been a fantastic 5 days, but the winner has been decided – it’s Wayne “The Beast” Ditchfield.

“I can’t believe it, it’s a dream come true,” the first words of the 2017 Co-op Funeralcare Men’s Autumn Waterloo Champion 2017, “I can’t thank the sponsors the Co-op Funeralcare and everyone involved and that’s supported me enough,” added a delighted Ditchfield.

The final was a clash of two good friends, “The Beast” verses Simon “Golden” Coupe. Coupe was the clear favourite at the beginning of the week having won the event in two previous seasons, but Ditchfield was the man playing the best bowls of the week.

The game started very close with it all level at 9.9, but Ditchfield broke away from there and won the championship with a very convincing score of 20.12.

In the games earlier:

Coupe took his semi-final tie right to the wire and with his last bowl won with a 21.20 score line. A great game for the crowds but the favourite Coupe won through to the final. Ditchfield as well came through a tough semi-final against Superbowl team mate Chris Brown. In heavy rain “The Beast” finished the game keeping his nerve to the end and winning the game 21.15.
