Team volunteering day to help the aged and lonely

our Finance, Strategy and Transformation teams volunteered

It shouldn’t be underestimated just how much a few hours of fun and good company, means to those who are lonely.

The issue of loneliness in the UK is becoming more known about every day (partly thanks to our good selves and our Charity Partnership with the British Red Cross), and it’s places like the Age Concern community centres that help confront this.

Recently, members of our Finance, Strategy and Transformation teams volunteered at one of these centres – and what a day it was!

The team got stuck into some gardening to make the surroundings more charming, hosted an entertaining game of bingo, and dazzled with a karaoke session which was accompanied by an impromptu Agadoo.

The difference they made brought huge smiles to the faces of the residents, who go along to the centre to get out of the house and socialise, and their efforts certainly didn’t go unnoticed by Donna Doherty who works at the centre, who said:

“The team were marvelous, the service users were all very happy and I felt that this activity was one of our most successful volunteering days”.

Well done to all of our wonderful team, for the positive difference that they made.
