PRESS RELEASE: Coffee morning raises £16,000 for local community

Thanks to our team at D H MacCabe Funeralcare

In 2011 our D H MacCabe Funeralcare team set up a monthly coffee morning to raise money for worthwhile causes. Since then they've gone on to raise a fantastic £16,000 for local charities.

The monthly coffee mornings, which are run by Funeral Arrangers Lynn Lacey and Noreen Green, raise money for charities which are close to the community’s heart.

In the first four months of 2018, they've already raised money for Saint Helens Church, Busy Bees Group, Dearne Memorial Group and the Church Hall totalling £481.

Noreen Green told us: “I decided to start the coffee morning because I wanted to do what was right by the community and make a real difference to local charities in need of some extra funding.

“At first, people can feel apprehensive about coming in to the funeral home for a coffee but the reality is that the conversations are so varied and the room is always filled with laughter. Each month we get anywhere from 20 to 30 attendees and we’re always keen to have new people attend the group.

The coffee morning is just another way that the team supports the local community. As a part of the Co-op membership scheme, they also supports the Ardsley Scout Group and Body Carnegie. The Co-op gives 1% of everything customers spend on selected Co-op branded products and services back to selected local causes in the community, including when you arrange a funeral or funeral plan with us.

For further information about the coffee morning’s please contact the funeral home directly on 01709 893 152 or email maccabe.rotherham@letsco-operate.com.
