PRESS RELEASE: Co-op’s golf day raises big funds for Formby charities
they raised over £3,000
Formby Co-op Funeralcare has raised over £3,000 as part of a charity golf event, to generate funds for Claire House Hospice and British Red Cross.
Held at the Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa, the day consisted of 18 holes of golf on the championship course and refreshments. A three-course gala dinner, a raffle and a charity auction were held in the evening, hosted by local DJ, Baz Todd.
Golfing enthusiasts were also able to bid for prizes including a spa day for two, a hot-air balloon ride and a photo shoot with champagne reception. £3,300 was raised throughout the event and distributed to both charities evenly.
Ragan Galley, Funeral Director at Formby Co-op Funeralcare and co-organiser of the event, commented:
“The day was a huge success and we were overwhelmed by the generosity of people when it came to the auction bids.
“Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, but most importantly, it helped to raise a lot of money and awareness for two vital causes which are close to many of our hearts.”
Claire House is a children’s hospice that provides support to families across the UK whose children won’t live to be adults. In the Formby area, they care for around 250 children.
Dan Halliday, Community Fundraiser for Claire House in Formby, added:
“We’d like to thank the Co-op Funeralcare team for their fantastic fundraising efforts, and the people of the local community for taking part.
“The money will help us provide vital services to local families that are going through the toughest of times, and ensure that their children have the best possible life.”
