PRESS RELEASE: BiG Reds’ Big Donation
Whitchurch donated art therapy materials to a local shelter
Co-op Funeralcare Whitchurch has donated art therapy materials to a local shelter, to support its members, some of whom are struggling to cope after the loss of a loved one.
BiG Red’s House in Whitchurch provides a safe haven for men suffering from depression, and as Co-op Funeralcare colleagues are passionate about supporting vital community projects and charities, Funeral Director Paul Stockton was keen to get involved.
He secured the donation of 16 art therapy colouring books and a pottery wheel. Commenting on the donation Paul said: “Art is one of my passions, I know first-hand how much enjoyment a person can get from creating art. People can express their emotions in a lot of different ways, and I hope that members at BiG Reds enjoy our donation.”
BiG Reds was set up by Simon Tooth and Christian Leivers, who had both experienced depression following the loss of loved ones. Their main purpose is to provide a friendly ear for people to talk to and a place for people to go when they are at their lowest point.
Director of BiG Reds, Simon Tooth, said: “We’d like to thank Co-op Funeralcare for their generous donation. We already hold a variety of creative therapy sessions, including clay, collage and colouring, and we are overwhelmed to receive the new art materials and pottery wheel that will help so many people.”
