Kind-hearted Susan helps Syrian refugees
After raising £1,600, she's travelling to their aid
We're so proud of the care that our Funeralcare colleagues offer on a day-to-day basis and so many of them humbly say "I'm just doing my job".
This is something that Funeral Arranger, Susan Ralton from our North Berwick funeral home most definitely can't say as she embarks on a week long trip to Eastern Europe to help those who are suffering in the refugee crisis.
Susan was determined to make a difference to their lives after hearing about the devastations, and decided that not only would she donate and provide goods, she would actually travel 2,000 miles to assist in and around camps, distributing goods and taking part in manual labour.
She recently organised a local coffee morning raising an incredible £1,600 to contribute to her trip and is currently in Serbia along with 7 other volunteers to make a genuine difference to those in crisis, hoping to put a smile on their faces.
Her story was featured in a local newspaper (pictured) and prior to her trip Susan thanked those who helped make it all possible for her:
"Thank you so much for your contribution towards the mission trip I am taking to help the refugees in Eastern Europe.
I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of yourselves and others and am thankful and humbled by the amount raised. This money will be taken with us and provisions will be bought over there once we establish the actual needs of those who find themselves in this awful situation.
Please pray for the team that I am going with, as we travel, and as we meet and pray with these folks during our time over there."
An enormous well done to Susan and the team on what can only be described as a life changing act of kindness.
