Heat to the feet for 'Simon on the Streets'
Our Leeds Regional Manager walked on hot coals for charity
Last summer, our Leeds Regional Manager Phil Barr decided that he wanted to embark on an ‘air, fire, water and earth’ challenge over a series of months, to raise money for local charity ‘Simon on the Streets’.
Simon on the Streets offers individual support to those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, helping them to access the services they need to make positive changes to their lives.
The charity first found a place in Phil’s heart when he took part in a rough sleep to raise awareness of the problem, managing to raise £545.
In July 2015, Phil conquered his fear of heights and completed the ‘air’ part of his new themed challenge with a 20,000 feet high skydive, raising a huge £1,110 for the charity. Just last week (pictured) he embraced the ‘fire’ element by walking bare-foot on hot coals at a scorching 697°F - bringing his funds raised altogether so far up to an incredible £1,865.
These brave acts of kindness from Phil have amounted to a significant amount of money that will make a huge difference to so many lives.
We can only imagine what he’s got planned for his final ‘water’ and ‘earth’ challenges…!
