Cuddle Cot for Blackburn
Danielle's generous gift for grieving parents
Earlier this year, Jackie Barton from our Blackburn Funeralcare looked after a family who had lost their baby boy, Jacob. Jackie did everything she could to help Jacob’s mum and dad through this heart-breaking time, but one thing that was sadly missing was being able to visit Jacob at the funeral home.
Babies born sleeping can stay with their families longer through the use of cold cots, and these are something that most hospitals now have. They look just like conventional Moses baskets, only they have a cooling unit below the mattress to keep baby cool.
Jacob’s mum, Danielle, decided that she wanted to give something back to thank Jackie for all her support, and to help any parents in the future going through this terrible experience. She started to fundraise and managed to raise over £1500 from sponsorships and cake sales, enough to buy a special Cuddle Cot which she then generously donated to our funeral home in Jacob’s name.
This is an amazing thing for us to be able to offer grieving parents and we can’t thank Danielle enough for making it possible.
