Celebrating Mother's Day in our local communities

Colleagues across the country organised activites

Mother's Day is a very special event in our community calendar - whether it's appreciating the mums who are still around to love and cherish, or whether it's remembering those mums that we've loved and lost who are forever in our hearts.

We understand that for many, Mother's Day is extremely difficult and each year we do our utmost to make the day a celebration for all - 2016 was no exception.

We're incredibly proud of all the fantastic things that our colleagues up and down the country have organised in their local communities and funeral homes this year.

From remembrance trees, books and services, to flower donations and school competitons, there really was something for everybody to mark the very special day in their own way.

Take a look at just some of the activities that were carried out:

Together our Durham funeral home and their local church organised a memorial service for attendees to remember the mums that are no longer with them

Our Greenhead Road funeral home in Huddersfield worked with their local Co-op Food store to donate 245 bunches of daffodils in their local community

Local school children were visited by our Guisborough funeral home who ran a Mother's Day poetry competition - the three winners recieved a prize for their mum and a certificate

Our Horsforth funeral home was just one of many who invited people to write and hang a message tag on their memorial tree, in remembrance of their mum

Donations of daffodils were given to local churches by our Oakwood funeral home, to brighten up their Mother's Day remembrance services

Our Pudsey funeral home donated beautiful floral displays to their local church as part of their remembrance service

Local school children were handed bunches of daffodils by our Wm Gilchrist funeral home in Bucksburn to take home to their mums

Residents of a local care home were treated to some flowers to brighten up their day from our Wythenshawe and Baguley funeral homes

These are just a selection of many activities that have taken place for Mother's Day - a huge well done to those who've featured and to all our other colleagues who celebrated in their local community!
