A Scarecrow Festival to remember
our Loftus funeral home got involved
Whoever said scarecrows were to simply frighten birds away from crops, have obviously never attended the Hinderwell & Port Mulgrave Scarecrow Festival!
For the past 14 years, the local community have come together for a week full of scarecrow scenery - with the big aim of raising money for local groups.
The idea is that there's a trail of scarecrows around village, dressed up in different settings for the amusement of the visitors.
Along the route different stalls, activities, games and competitions take place, as well as well as performances from a local choir and comedy performers.
This year (along with previous years), Glenis Sanderson from our Loftus funeral home in Yorkshire gave a helping hand in the 'Scarecrow Cafe' by donating tea and coffee - which of course went down a treat in that neck of the woods!
Altogether over £5,000 was raised which will go to the local sports club, the old school community building and local playgroup, while £1,100 from collection buckets has been donated to the Great North Air Ambulance.
We're all about community spirit and this is right up our street, bringing the community together and creating investment for local causes.
What a fun way to raise some money and well done Glenis...don't forget our invite next year (we can definitely relate to the featured scarecrow)!
