11 year old Amber's charity dog walk

she raised £1,500 for 'Protecting Pre-loved Border Collies'

Spring is here, and the weather seems that little bit more pleasant (well at least for some of us anyway).

And what better excuse to make the most of the newly sprouting daffodils, than to go on a nice long community walk for charity.

We were fascinated recently to hear about an organised community dog walk in Harlow, which our local team took part in…

And the best bit?

It was ALL organised by a very determined and motivated 11 year old girl named Amber, for the ‘Protecting Pre-loved Border Collies’ charity.

She planned a scenic and interesting 5 mile route for the walk, and crafted handy signs along the way to count down the miles for the walkers.

She did all the promotion through social media herself, got 20 owners and 30 dogs on board to enjoy the walk – and got in touch with our Harlow funeral home for their help.

Our colleagues Julia and Stacey were amazed by her charity entrepreneurial ambition at such a young age, and were keen to get involved.

They looked after everybody at the end of their brisk stroll with tea, coffee, refreshments and gave out goody bags which included dog bowls, trolley tokens, shoe shine, and energy bars.

The day was a massive success and the wonderful Amber managed to raise an eye-watering £1,500 for the charity.

This is such a great example of the community pulling together for a good cause, with the added bonus of meeting new people along the way.

Well done to everybody, especially Amber!
